Landscape Notes: A reblooming azalea, Rhododendron Perfecto Mundo Double Pink Azalea blooms not for mere weeks but for months. It blooms on old wood in spring, and later, after a brief rest, it blooms on new wood in midsummer, continuing until it frosts. A light pruning after the spring bloom will encourage new growth and new blooms. The large double flowers are papery and pink, in other words, perfect.
Exposure/Culture: Azaleas prefer fertile, well-drained organic soil. Acidic soil is necessary for azaleas, with an ideal pH around 5.5 to 6.2. They will trhrive in filtered to partial sun -- Part sun to dappled shade is ideal, and the hotter your climate, the more shade becomes necessary.
Other Notes: Everything you want in an evergreen azalea: showy, pure pink, double blooms for weeks in spring, late summer, and fall, improved hardiness, and handsome foliage. That's why we call Perfecto Mundo azaleas "the total package." Another outstanding innovation from Dr. Tom Ranney of NCSU.
