Landscape Notes: Oakleaf Hydrangea, Hydrangea quercifolia is one of the showiest deciduous shrubs for summer flowers and fall foliage color. It prospers in shady areas and should be used as a specimen in garden borders. Coarse foliage provides an interesting contrast as a background plant for fine textured plants. Oakleaf Hydrangea, Hydrangea quercifolia is outstanding and reasonably low-maintenance.

Exposure/Culture: Oakleaf Hydrangea, Hydrangea quercifolia prefers light shade to full shade areas. Does best in moist, well drained soil. Not prosperous in dry, sunny sites. Prune after flowering to thicken or shape.

Other Notes: Oakleaf Hydrangea, Hydrangea quercifolia gets its name from the huge leaves which will turn yellow, red, and orange in the fall. The flowers can be cut and used as bouquets in your home. As the bloom ages on the plant it turns from a bright white into a mixture of white and pink. Oakleaf Hydrangea, Hydrangea quercifolia is very easy to grow and not only adds beauty to your landscaping but also to your interior settings as well!
