Landscape Notes: Cleyera is an excellent large shrub having many uses in the landscape. It looks great in shady areas where many plants “thin out”. The foliage and dense habit are its outstanding features. One of the best!
Exposure/Culture: Cleyera thrives in partial to full shade areas. It prefers well drained, rich, organic soils. Responds favorably to pruning, but natural shape should be maintained.
Other Notes: Cleyera is good as an accent plant, can be used for screens and hedges. Emerging leaves are bronze to red in color, changing to lustrous dark green at maturity.
