Landscape Notes: ‘Kaleidoscope’ Abelia, Abelia x grandiflora is a compact, dense growing form of Glossy Abelia which has an interesting form. It combines well with other evergreens, and it can be used effectively as a foundation plant or in massed planting beds. ‘Kaleidoscope’ Abelia, Abelia x grandiflora has a very long bloom period as compared to most flowering shrubs. Stems are smooth and reddish in color.
Exposure/Culture: ‘Kaleidoscope’ Abelia, Abelia x grandiflora thrives in full sun or partial shade conditions, however it will bloom less in shaded areas. Prefers well drained, organic soil but is adaptable to a wide range of conditions. Will not bloom as well during drought unless supplemental water is provided. Prune to maintain shape and remove irregular growth.
