Landscape Notes: Pampas Grass, Cortaderia selloana, creates a showy focal point in a landscape. It can also serve well as an accent plant. It produces silver to creamy feathery white plumes in late summer. Those plumes can be harvested and used for decorations indoors during the fall and winter.

Exposure/Culture: Pampas Grass, Cortaderia selloana, thrives in full sun areas of the landscape. It prefers a rich, well drained, moist soil, and should be fertilized regularly.

Other Notes: Pampas Grass, Cortaderia selloana, should be trimmed in early spring before the new growth emerges. Leaving the dead material through the winter provides a nesting area for birds and mammals. It is one of the showiest of the ornamental grasses.
