Landscape Notes: Variegated lilyturf, Liriope muscari 'Variegata' makes abold statement in the landscape. as with any variegated plant, location of the plant should be carefully planned. Variegated lilyturf, Liriope muscari 'Variegata' is one tough plant you almost cannot kill. Stomp on it, drive over it with your car, cut it back to the ground...heck, we've even accidentally sprayed it with RoundUp and it didn't die! That being said, we don't advise spraying it with any herbicides.
Exposure/Culture: Variegated lilyturf, Liriope muscari 'Variegata' works best in shade; however, it can be grown in full sun. It is tolerant of a wide range of conditions. Variegated lilyturf, Liriope muscari 'Variegata' can be mowed to ground in late winter; new growth will show more vivid color.
The attractive grassy leaves are dark green striped vertically with white or a creamy yellow margins. Lilac-lavender flower spikes resembling hyacinths rise above the clumps of grass-like foliage in summer, adding extra appeal.
Other Notes: Variegated lilyturf, Liriope muscari 'Variegata' has a neat clump-forming habit make 'Variegata' a perfect choice for bordering sidewalks or the perimiters of garden beds or in mass as a groundcover under small or large trees. Unlike other Liriopes that will wildly spread where they are not wanted, 'Variegata' forms neat clumps which gradually increase in size over time. No runners popping up 2 feet away from the plant!
